the soundtrack of my life
So i've never really been one to carry around a portable music player everywhere i go. I have a cd player i never use, which i let my sister have, and an mp3 player which i also never use, which i have also given to my sister. Not that i don't have tons of cds and mp3s - i've got a good sized collection, but i kind of like not shutting myself off from my surroundings, particularly when i'm commuting. Partially because i'm paranoid about missing announcements over the PA system, or not hearing a car coming in my direction, etc etc. After yesterday though, i'm starting to re-think my preference. Cuz there are some UBER ANNOYING people on the train/subway. I took the train in to TO on my way to AngryBot's house last evening, and the whole way there, i ended up listening to a whiny teenager get into a fight with her mom on the phone, AND THEN following that, i had to listen to her call up her best friend or whatever and recap the entire incident in the typical juvenile angsty teenage style. This lasted a good 3/4 of the ride. I suppose i could have moved cars, but didn't feel like getting up. And also, there's no guarantee that i wouldn't walk into a section full of teeny boppers.
Later on, we were having dinner at Casey's, and beside us sat a couple that seemed to have met for the first time, i.e. a blind date. And indeed, they sounded EXACTLY like the show Blind Date. The guy was obsessed with himself, talked way too much and way too loud, sounded like a jackass, and went on and on about the colour of people's hair, how he is 'soooooo into music', and how he is such an honest guy. Now, i don't mind watching Blind Date, my house always watched it (probably more than we should have). But let me tell you - without the cutting out of lengthy conversations about nothing, and no funny animations, it makes me want to kill.
I don't understand what goes through such people's minds, though i'm pretty sure i also don't want to find out. Sometimes i wish that i had a chance to go on a blind date with such people, just so i could get up, say "You're an idiot", and leave.
Bah humbug.
